Check Fraud Warning

There is a new check fraud scam that everyone should be aware of. In this scheme, someone will call and ask for you using your given name (i.e. Mary Smith). Once they have confirmed who they are talking to, they go on to say that someone has gotten a hold of your checks and is passing them. Then they ask you to get your checkbook so they can confirm some information and put a stop to the fraud.

PLEASE DON’T FALL FOR IT!

The caller is charming, professional and very believable. The only information they have when they place the call is a name and phone number. They are relying on you and your fear of loss and identity theft to provide the rest. No legitimate financial institution or law enforcement agency will ever try to solicit private information from you

If you receive this kind of telephone call, please contact Beehive and your local law enforcement for assistance.
